Video Recap of Beer Dinner with Founders

A lil’ while back we held what was our first Beer Dinner (with Founders Brewing) at our extra special and newly minted “Chef’s Table”. Photographer & Videographer Travis Anderson was in attendance and did a nice short video on the night, including kitchen prep and plating. Take a peek and keep tabs on forthcoming Beer Dinners.

NEWS: “Coltonwurst”, Pride Party, 4th of July and New Belgium Beer Tapping

It seems once summer hits in the cities, it’s a mad dash to any patio, lake, path, park or bbq in hopes of catching some fun and sun before the season ends. We support and subscribe to that kind of plan and we’ve got some exciting events to help fill your summer calendar.

*First up, tonight we’ve switched up our New Belgium Brewing Beer Dinner tonight a bit. We’re skipping dinner (don’t tell mom) and going straight for the beer. At 6:30 we’re tapping a keg of Eric’s Ale (super rare) along with a few other Lips Of Faith beers. Brewer Eric Salazar will be in attendance, so stop on by and grab a brew/ask some questions.

*PRIDE WEEKEND! It’s coming up quick and we’ll be in full party mode all weekend long. Lavender Magazine’s Joy Summers even mentioned last years Pride activities in brief. We’ll be doing it bigger and better this year. Did someone say parking lot BBQ???

*Independence Day 2013: Our dining room will be closed that day but our Beer Garden will be open for some special holiday hours of 12-9. We’ll be playing the Twins home game against the Yankees that day, BBQing and generally keeping it awesome, patriotic and festive.

*And last but not least, an extra special (& large) “Coltonwurst” photo courtesy of our butcher crew. It’s not all strictly business with those guys…

Butcher and The Boar "Coltonwurst"

Introducing Butcher and The Boar’s new Pastry Chef: Rachel Slivicki

We are extremely pleased to announce that we have a new Pastry Chef here at Butcher and The Boar! Her name is Rachel and long story short, she’s as awesome as she is talented. We couldn’t be happier to have her on our team.

Butcher and The Boar Pastry Chef Rachel Slivicki

North Dakota native Rachel Slivicki migrated to Chicago to attend the Le Cordon Bleu school of Culinary Arts in 2005. Working her way through Chicago’s vibrant restaurant scene, she landed a position at Mindy’s HotChocolate, Mindy Segal’s perennial landmark. Under the guidance of the James Beard Award winning pastry chef, Rachel honed her skills to a razor’s edge. She was nominated Time Out Magazine’s “20 Chefs to Watch,” as well as Zagat’s 30 Under 30 in 2012. Feeling a need to be closer to family, Rachel moved to Minneapolis where she is currently heading the pastry department at award winning Butcher and the Boar, 2012 Star Tribune Restaurant of the Year. Rachel draws inspiration from many things, but it’s her love of hiking outdoors with her dog as well as music and dancing that keeps the creative energy flowing. She is guided by the changing seasons and her approach is self-described as “classic American comfort” Yet in the skilled hands of this young star, classic American becomes anything but homespun.
