Back at it!

There’s an old adage in baseball that goes something like “There’s always next year.” And what’s true in America’s past time, is true in the case of the James Beard Awards. Our man Chef Jack Riebel was a finalist in yesterday’s 2013 awards for Best Chef: Midwest category. Well, it didn’t happen this time around but that’s not changing a thing. Jack and his crew will be pushing harder than ever to make quality and taste front row center in every single dish you order, always. And not for the sake of awards, but for every other reason. Quality, integrity, authenticity and taste. And of course, you. Thank you all for your support for Jack and the restaurant…here’s to next year!

Back to the kitchen!

Curiocity: A Chef’s Profile Of Butcher & The Boar’s Jack Riebel, Part 1

WCCO’s just released the first part of their profile on Chef Jack Riebel for their Curiocity series. Check it out!

“…What is that like for you to receive such an honor for your work?

For me, the thing that I really was the most proud of – and I mean, Best Chef Midwest is awesome and I’m going to go to New York and have a blast – but being mentioned in the top 25 best new restaurants in America, as a semifinalist, was maybe more rewarding for me. Because that’s not just me, that’s the accumulation of our team, what we’ve done here and a testament to all of the people that helped make it happen. I think whenever you can put together a group of people and you have that cohesion, you can make great things happen. I thought that was awesome.”

2013 James Beard Awards semi finalists: (Butcher & The Boar AND Jack Riebel)

Today we have some special and fantastic news to share with you all. Today it is announced that Butcher & The Boar and our very own Jack Riebel are both semi finalists for 2013 James Beard Awards. The categories: Best New Restaurant and Best Chef (Midwest), respectively.

Now, our mothers always told us not to count our chickens till they hatched, (of course most of us weren’t counting chickens at all but that’s besides the point). And although we’re still weeks away from the final results coming in March 18th we can’t help but be overly excited about being considered in the first place. Not to mention, looking around on the list of friends, peers and competitors that surround us in our nominations is simultaneously a humbling and proud moment.

So what this means to you; our future customers, our current regulars, our most critical of fans…is that the bar has already been set to try harder. Be better, kinder, more attentive, assertive and tastier than ever. We’re almost upon our 1 year anniversary and as we gather all that has happened to date, we eagerly look forward to what’s next.

Thank you, all of you.
